On December 1, 2025, Salinas del Rey made history: the Blue Flag flew over 1 km of Atlantic coastline, making it the first sports beach in the entire American continent—and the tenth in Colombia—to receive Blue Flag certification from the Foundation for Environmental Education. This seal guarantees water quality, safety, universal accessibility, and world-class environmental management. In addition, the GKA Kite World Tour has been held here since 2022.

7:00 AM

The early start that's worth it

You leave Barranquilla with the windows down and vallenato music playing on the radio. It's 20 minutes to Pradomar and 50 to Puerto Velero. The fishermen from Solinilla have returned with the day's catch, and the seagulls are celebrating. The air changes: it smells of salt, clean breeze, the real Caribbean. The sun is just beginning to warm up, and the beach is yours.

When the wind picks up
