A day at the coast

This is how you spend a perfect day on the Atlantic beaches. From dawn to dusk, without filters.

7:00 AM

The early start that's worth it

You leave Barranquilla with the windows down and vallenato music playing on the radio. Twenty minutes to Pradomar, fifty to Puerto Velero. The fishermen from Solinilla have returned with the day's catch, and the seagulls celebrate. The air changes: it smells of salt, of clean breeze, of the real Caribbean.

When the wind picks up

The northeast trade winds arrive right on time. Kites start flying in Puerto Velero—15-22 knots of steady wind over flat water. In Salinas del Rey, the Blue Flag area is perfect for paddle boarding. The water is 28°C: you don't need a wetsuit, just enthusiasm.

Ceviche, beer, and sea breeze

Lunch at a kiosk in Caño Dulce: fried fish with patacón and coconut lemonade. Or if you want something more upscale, Klimandiaro Sunset Lounge in Pradomar with cocktails that rival those in Cartagena. Feet in the sand, always.

On December 1, 2025, Salinas del Rey raised the Blue Flag and became the first sports beach in the entire American continent with Blue Flag certification—the tenth in Colombia. One kilometer of coastline where 360 meters are certified for swimmers and athletes with international protocols, and the rest is an environmental protection zone. The GKA Kite World Tour has been held here since 2022, with world-class riders flying over its waters. Ideal conditions for freestyle, big air, and racing. Certified water quality, universal access, lifeguards, and a sunset you won't forget.
